Founded in 1967 and accredited by the American Association of Museums, the Silver City Museum creates opportunities for residents and visitors to explore, understand, and celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of southwestern New Mexico by collecting, preserving, researching, and interpreting the region's unique history. The Museum is located in the Mansard/Italianate H.B. Ailman House, built in 1881 during Silver City's mining boom era. Offerings include long-term and changing exhibits, photoarchive, regional history research library, Museum Store, and a wide range of public programming.
